Back in '99 a group of Camelboks travelled to Sydney to play the first ever Kuttabul vs Kuttabul game of rugby. The Kuttabul Camelboks hail from a small village in northern Queensland, while HMAS Kuttabul in the Royal Australian Navy Base. We didn't qite have a full team, so we pulled in a couple of ring ins from one of ships moored at the wharf. They were more than happy to play against HMAS Kuttabul, the Navy premiers.
The game started in good spirit, but deteriorated into a bit of a spitefest, mainly because the country boys were on top, eventually winning 22-7. The Navy boys showered the Camelboks with hospitality, showing them around the navy base and hosting them at the Navy Rugby Club and the Petty Officers' Mess.
The weekend trip to Sydney also included the Centenary Test between Australia and England (Australia played in light blue jerseys, reminiscent of the first test), climbed Sydney Harbour Bridge and watched an NRL game.
