Kuttabul win R6 matches against Slade Point

05/09/10

Match Reports to come:

Kuttabul produced a convincing 52-10 win over Slade Point to remain undefeated in the MDRU competition. In a sometimes fiery encounter, both teams had a player sent from the field.

It was the Camelboks that settled quickest and behind a dominant forward pack, the Kuttabul backs started to race in tries. Their slick halves pairing of Mitchell Coles and Misavili Apu’ula once again produced fine games, with Apu’ula’s double bringing his tally to 8 tries from 4 games.

In the forwards, French no.8 Louis Kern continually bust Slade Point’s defences. He was well supported by Welsh flanker Stuart Edbrooke and team captain Alex Bourne, who were both well rewarded with a try each.

Try Scorers: Logan Gardiner (1), Alex Bourne (1), Stuart Edbrooke (1), Louis Kern (1), Mitchell Coles (1), Misavili Apu’ula (2), Ben Michelmore (1)

Conversions: Mitchell Coles (5/7), Alex Bourne (1/1)

In Reserve Grade, Kuttabul inflicted Slade Point’s first loss of the year.  The 22-13 victory puts Kuttabul on top of the table in both Grades. The first half set up the win and with Kuttabul running into a strong wind, they still managed to scored 2 tries. Trailing by 13-12 at the break, the Camelboks were confident when they turned with the wind.  Slade Point were scoreless in the second half as Kuttabul dominated possession and field position.  Andrew Willes’s 2nd try of the game gave Kuttaul the lead after 60 minutes.  Scrumhalf Garry Bartlett sealed the win with a sneaky try in the 72nd minute.  Best on ground was flyhalf Lloyd Davies, fullback Chris Walker and hooker Lee Hokins.

Tryscorers: Chris Walker, Andrew Willes 2, Garry Bartlett

Goals: Llyod Davies 1/4
