Cardiff Hooker ready for Brothers match

05/09/10

Kuttabul have welcomed a professional rugby player into their squad for the top of the table match against Brothers on Saturday. The Lions Park match played on the 26th of June will see a great clash upfront, with the Brothers pack proving to be a real dominant force in 2010.

Garry Horrigan arrived in Mackay from the famous Cardiff RFC, where he is the starting hooker for their Premiership team. Cardiff is one of the more famous clubs in world rugby, boasting 36 Welsh Captains in their luminous 135 year history. A regular opponent for touring international teams, Cardiff have notched wins against South Africa, the mighty All Blacks and remarkably remained undefeated against the Wallabies for 101 years.

Garry has also made numerous appearances with the Cardiff Blues team, playing in the Heineken Cup. The 2010 team supplied 11 starting test players for Wales in their 6 Nations campaign. Along with their host of Welsh Internationals, the Blues squad also boasts NZ All Blacks, Xavier Rush, Paul Tito, Casey Lualala and Ben Blair as well as Wallaby Sam Norton-Knight.

Rounding out an impressive rugby CV, Horrigan adds to it with the captaincy of one of Wales’s most prestigious teams. The Crawshays RFC is an invitational team similar to their English counterparts, the Barbarians. It is a great honour amongst the Welsh to be selected into a team with such a proud history, their past players including legends of the game such as JPR Williams and Phil Bennett. To captain the side is something else again.

A tough abrasive hooker, Horrigan is also a noted try-scorer and will bring a wealth of knowledge to the Camelbok squad.
