First XV 09/10 Neutral to Brothers, 09/05/09

Kuttabuls French Connection of Louis Kern and Benny Grandcluadon help steer the Boks to a good first up win against Brothers. Both players finished the match with a try apeice and Benny kicked two from three attempts at goal.

Benny opened the scoring when on the end of a very good backline movement. New first five, Usaia Tawaeuau looped around Mitch Brown before sending the ball wide to the deceptively evasive winger who crossed out wide. After missing the conversion of his own try, Benny asked the runner to pass on a message to the coaching staff that the kicking tee was "Le Shit".

The Brothers restart went into touch on the full and gave the Camelboks another opportunity in the Brothers half. After sustained pressure, Louis was able to hit a small gap on the edge of the ruck and despite the attention of three brothers defenders, was able to barge over close to the posts. Benny (kicking with a new tee) made no mistake with the conversion and the score became 12-0.

Brothers were able to claw a try back against the run of play. Toeing a loose ball through, the Brothers chaser received a friendly bounce and was able to score close to the posts.

The game ebbed and flowed until Kuttabul received back to back short arm penalities. With a quick tap, Usaia was able to catch the tiring Brothers defenders off guard before then shifted the ball wide to fast finishing Neil Willis. Benny kicked the conversion to give the Kuttabul team a 19-7 victory.

Some of the best for the Camelboks were Yorkshire flanker Hugo Ross, who worked tirelessly at the break down and was able to turn over plenty of Brothers ball. Wingers Benny Grandcluadon and Neil Willis were able to finish off the good work done inside and turn breaks into points. Mackays 2008 representitive player of the year, Usaia Tawaeuau was faultless in defence and again proved a handfull in attack. Man of the match awards went to Louis Kern who was able to bend the defensive line back with every charge and also proved invaluable in the lineouts.

Kuttabuls next match is against defending premiers Slade Point.
